The Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee (MLAIC – www.mlaic.org) is the World Governing Body for muzzle loading shooting. The 22nd MLAIC World Championships were held at Bordeaux, France, 6th to 12th August 2006 and were attended by 417 competitors from 26 countries.

The Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain (MLAGB – www.mlagb.com) as the Governing Body for muzzle loading selected the GB Team of 34 shooters. The wide variety of shooting disciplines available mean that such large teams are not uncommon. At the conclusion of the weeks events for original and reproduction muzzle loading arms the GB Team maintained their world ranking of 6th behind Germany, France, Sweden, Spain and Austria.

Competitions are for 25m pistol and revolver, 50m musket and rifle, 100m rifle and DTL shotgun. The Championship web site is at http://wc2006.fftir.org.
