SKEET The final day of this World Cup saw the GBR team work hard for a place in the Final and improve on their results in San Domingo. Richard Brickell shot consistently throughout to score 119 and 9th place, one target off the Final. This was his best result since the same competition two years ago when he shot off for the Final on 120, coming 7th. Clive Bramley shot steadily through to the last round when he faltered posting 22 to score 117 - he had had a possible Final place in his sights. Craig Lakey recovered well from a poor second day to finish with 25 and 117. All three made the top 25, a welcome improvement. Overall this was a competition of 'nearly' - five top 10 results out of 14 starts continuing the record of the international season to date that has seen GBR secure 9 top 10 results out of 28 starts. Preparations for the W Cups in Lonato and Maribor in June will focus on getting more shooters into finals and the medal and quota place zones. The team is becoming more competitive - out of 14 starts 13 shooters made the top 25 in their events, something never before achieved. The team is growing in confidence. The World Cup in Lonato (ITA) starts on 6th June. DOUBLE TRAP A disappointing day for the GBR Double Trap shooters in Changwon. Steve Scott again rose to the challenge to shoot 135 for 9= place to confirm that he is Britain's most consistent DT shooter so far this year. Tim Kneale's first round was below par, but he recovered to score 130 and 26th place. TRAP The Men's and Women's trap events are now complete at the second Shotgun World Cup of the year, in Changwon Korea. Shona Marshall was 9th in the Women's event with 64, her best placing to date, with Charlotte Kerwood 10th also on 64. Lesley Goddard was 22nd with 61 including the only 25 of the competition. In the Men's event Ossie McLean narrowly missed out on the shoot-off for the final, missing his last two targets for a final round of 21, a total of 116 and 19th place, with Brad Davis also on 116 taking 12th. Aaron Heading completed the team with 114 and 25th place. British Shooting's Performance Director, John Leighton-Dyson, expressed satisfaction with all six shooters coming in the top 25 of their respective events, and commented that Kerwood's placing continued her impressive run of four consecutive top 10 results in each of her four World Cups to date, including two medals, and all this in her first twelve months since converting from Double Trap. The World Cup continues with the Men's Double Trap on Thursday. |
