The British team returned from the Junior Nordic Championships with three medals – two Gold and one Bronze. The two Gold medals came in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event, where Julia Lydall dominated the individual event and led the team home to victory by a ten-point margin. All three British women qualified for the individual final – Lydall with a nine point lead from the qualification round, Geraldine Buckley in fourth and Lauren Hill in eighth respectively. Although Lydall’s lead was halved by the end of the final ten shots, she was never under serious threat, while Buckley made a determined effort to close the four point gap to third place, missing out on an individual medal by 1.2. The only other medal for the British team came in the Men’s 50m Prone Rifle, where the World Championship winning trio of Matt Thomson, Ken Parr and Richard Phillips were fortunate to fend off the challenge of fourth-placed Finland. Thomson was the highest placed individual rifle shooter across all six events, entering the final in third place but dropping to fifth after the additional ten shots.
