British Shooting is please to announce the appointment of Donald McIntosh as the new Head Rifle Coach of the Great Britain Shooting Team.Donald, based near Falkirk in Central Scotland, has been an Assistant Coach on the World Class Performance Programme since 2005, leading the Talent & Development programmes in 2007/8 and supporting British athletes at many international matches. He led teams to a number of multi-sport and other major international matches, including the 2007 World University Games, 2008 European U21 Championships and 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festival. He briefly visited Beijing during the 2008 Olympic Games as part of the BOA’s Olympic Ambitions programme. Donald was also Team Manager for Rifle & Pistol at the 2006 World Championships in Zagreb, and has recently stepped down from the Board of British Shooting, where he has been the representative of Scottish Target Shooting since 2006. He holds an ISSF ‘B’ Coaches License and has an MSc in Performance Psychology. Donald represented Scotland at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, and was Coach with the Scottish team at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. He is a former Scottish Champion in all three of the Olympic Rifle events, and won Gold Medals at the 1999 and 2001 Commonwealth Shooting Championships.
