The British team won three further medals on the last day of the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney. Hannah Polak took the first of these, with an excellent win in the Women's 25m Pistol - an event in which she is only able to train a small number of times per year in Switzerland. A qualification round of 560 gave her a comfortable lead, which she increased during the final. Vicki Mullin shot the best final on the range, moving up from 6th to 4th. Rory McAlpine and Matthew Hall then added Gold and Silver in the Men's 50m Prone Rifle, despite encountering problems during the qualification round. Matthew's rifle malfunctions at the start of the match, and a temporary repair had to be carried out on the firing point in order to allow him to continue. Rory suffered not one, but two, target failures, and had to re-start his match after the first one and move a second time as a precaution when the rubber in the Sius Ascor unit on both lanes jammed. The young Scot kept his cool throughout, despite finishing his match 45 minutes after the remainder of the field, and the positions remained unchanged after the final.
