The British shotgun shooters at the European Championships had further success in Belgrade, with Gold and a new European Junior Record of 343 for the Junior Men's Skeet team of Mike Gilligan, Lawrence Collier and Doug Clarke. Sixteen year old Gilligan also picked up the individual bronze medal, with Collier just missing out of the final on a shoot-off and Clarke also in the top ten.
The Senior Skeet shooters were not so fortunate, Richard Brickell eighth after missing out on the final on a shoot-off, and the team fourth – just one target off the bronze medal.
The Senior Trap team had a similar fate, also fourth by one target, with Chris Dean and Ed Ling both qualifying for the final but missing out on the medals for fourth and fifth places respectively – in Dean’s case following a bronze medal shoot-off with Clamens of France.
Carl Exton was the best placed of the British shooters in the Junior Men’s Trap, with 11th place.
The Championships come to a conclusion on the 14th of July with the Double Trap events, however the senior shotgun team face another week in Belgrade for the third World Cup of the year. |
