Four-times Olympian Richard Faulds missed out on the medals in the double trap final in Beijing today.
Faulds, who struck gold in the same discipline in Sydney eight years ago, went into the final in fifth place with a score of 137 hits from 150 targets in the qualification round. He followed that up with 43 in the final round to finish sixth overall with 180. “I made the final and was pleased to do that. You always look for a medal though,” he said. “I’ve made four Olympic Games, made three finals and won one Olympic medal,” he said. “I’ve tried my hardest and done my best today. “The world standing is rising year by year. There’s no room for error, although the scores today weren’t particularly high. You can’t re-create this situation and we only have one chance every four years to make an Olympic final. “I came here tried my hardest for a medal, but haven’t got one, so it’s back to the drawing board.” Meanwhile, Steven Scott missed out on the final, coming joint 12th in the qualifying round with a score of 134. He said: “I’ve learned a good lesson today. Unfortunately I suffered in the first round, small problems making me slip up little and often. “Other than that it went well and I am happy to have participated in my first Olympic Games.” |
